Every May Affiliated FM hosts nearly 80 broker partners in Providence, RI where they are able to fully experience “Research in Action”. The highlight of this forum is a day spent at FM Global’s 1,600 acre research campus. The tour of the research campus includes a demonstration of a full scale fire test. Participants are able to see first hand, in a controlled environment, how a fire is able to quickly grow when not protected by an automatic sprinkler system. The tour also includes demonstrations of windborne debris smashing into unprotected glass, how racked storage will react in an earthquake, as well as many stories and real life examples of how the loss prevention measures taken by clients have helped them prevent disaster at their locations. Here are some of the things past participants had to say about their experience: “Its great to know that the recommendations FM Global field engineers are making are actually based on science and fact. While they may be more stringent then most, the facts are the facts and the research I witnessed here certainly helps me appreciate that.” “No other company in the world has a facility like this and the dedication to understand property exposures like Affiliated FM. It’s now easy to understand how Affiliated FM is able to offer the products and services to my clients and I now feel more confident in my ability to leverage those strengths.” If you think you or someone from your company might be a good candidate to participate in the Broker Engineering Forum, please contact your Production Underwriter.
